Parents As Partners Active in Community and Upcoming Events!

Parents As Partners Program
Children develop best with the active support of their parents. When parents live apart, Child Support Services of Clark County makes sure they fulfill their responsibilities and see to their children’s wellbeing. One of the ways this can be accomplished is through the “Parents As Partners” (PAP) program. PAP helps parents—whether they live together or apart—understand the importance of working together to care for their children. In addition, the program links parents to educational, health and vocational services.
PAP facilitators work diligently to help meet the needs of children and families in this community. Summer is always a busy time for the program while the facilitators continue to expand services within the community. They are members of the Clark County Fatherhood Task Force. They helped plan and implement Clark County’s first fatherhood celebration, “My Dad Rocks” which was held on Saturday, June 18 in Snyder Park. The celebration honored dads with an essay contest, a walk through the park, proclamations by the Mayor and County Commissioners, a picnic, live entertainment and carnival games. Over 300 people attended the successful event. A great time was enjoyed by all!
On Wednesday, July 27, PAP staff will be on hand at the Clark County Fair providing program information to parents and teaching children how to make “boo-boo bunnies.”
On August 20, PAP staff will attend the “Summer Sky” event sponsored by Family and Children Services of Clark County. This fun, family event will be held at the Heritage Center with lots of activities for kids and parents. Again, PAP staff will be available to provide program information to parents, and kids will have a chance to win school supplies. Learn more at: www.flysummersky.com

The goal of the PAP program is to help parents - whether they are together or not - understand the importance of being involved positively in their children’s lives. The program works with mothers and fathers to help build healthy family relationships through better communication, listening skills, conflict resolution and anger management. The program is free, has flexible hours, and is offered through Child Support Services of Clark County, a division of Job and Family Services of Clark County. A child support case is not required to participate. To learn more about the best gift you can give your child, call (937) 327-3622 or 327-3626.
