The WorkPlus One-Stop Center of Clark County received the 2009 One-Stop Best Practice Award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services of Workforce Development.   This award recognizes the most creative and successful innovation implemented or practiced by a local one-stop during the time period of July 1, 2008 through May 31, 2009.

The Rise Above program received statewide recognition as an innovative “best practice” based on the collaboration of one-stop partners, employer and job seeker participation, and support from community organizations and the Clark County Commissioners.   The two-week (70 hours) program is designed to assist people who are transitioning into new jobs, new careers or entering the workforce for the first time.  A variety of assessment tools are used to identify skills, aptitudes and personal interests of the participants prior to enrollment into the program.  Graduates are assigned to job placement specialists and receive weekly job placement and job retention support up to six months.   Performance outcomes are measured by the number of completers, job placement and six-month retention.

The WorkPlus One-Stop Center and participating partners, Clark State Community College, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Workforce Development, Jobs and More Christian Ministries and ARC Staffing Solutions are proud to be recipients of this year’s award.
