Delivery Driver - CDL Class A

Delivery Driver needed for a local food bank. Provide pick-up and deliveries of food, utilizing the grocery pick-up program and moving excess perishables to agencies and as a mobile pantry to poverty centers of the community when assigned and available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive the agency trucks to pick-up and/or deliver food.
  • Complete monthly vehicle mileage log.
  • Keep gas receipts and submit to Director as received.
  • Keep trucks clean and neat at all times, washed (minimum) once per month including cargo box (all spills cleaned immediately).
  • Report any vehicle problems to the Director as soon as possible.
  • Use of GPS tracking and routing system.
  • Load and unload the product as necessary.
  • Provide feedback to Director on the grocery pick-up program.
  • Operate a mobile pantry when opportunities arise in poverty centers of the community.
  • Accept, record, and receipt delivery of donations.
  • Inspect all boxes for damage, contamination or infestation.
  • Check shipping invoice to ensure all product is received.
  • Count, weigh and complete weight slip and submit to warehouse inventory specialist.
  • Place food in appropriate bin location.
  • Submit date of delivery and expiration date of product.
  • Participate in special food drives: Post Office Food Drive, Christmas Food Drive, Scouting for Food.
  • Focus on customer service to all vendors and agencies
  • Delivery of Commodity boxes to senior distributions
  • Rapid distribution of produce whenever available
  • Assist in warehouse organization, truck loading/unloading, and inventory management
(other duties may be assigned)
 
Qualifications: Ability to use pallet jacks. Ability to meet the most current regulations stipulated by the Ohio Department of Transportation for commercial drivers such as annual physicals, random drug screening, etc. Must have good driving record and be trainable for OSHA forklift certification.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED. Two years experience driving similar or larger trucks.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Commercial Driver’s License.
Physical Demands: Position requires ability to lift heavy objects, sit, stand, walk, stoop, communicate verbally by phone or in person, operate PC and drive a truck. Maximum unassisted lift 50 lbs.
Work Environment: Warehouse environment, heated and air conditioned. Temperature 30 to 90+ degrees F. Ambient noise, loud, not requiring hearing protection. Steel toed boots required.
