Clark County Child Support Recognized for Stepping Up Support Collections

Child Support Services of Clark County was notified in December that it was recognized by the State of Ohio as Most Improved Collections on Cases with Arrears in the Large Caseload Division for FFY 2011.  Cases with an arrears collection increased 2.42% over the previous federal fiscal year (FFY).

Since 2005, there has been a steady increase in the number of cases behind in Child Support.  This past federal Ffscal year is the first year that the number of cases has gone down from the previous year.

Since 2005, the total amount of current child support owed has also decreased. At the end of federal fiscal year 2005, $31,371,585.70 was owed in current child support. At the end of FFY 2011, that amount has decreased to $28,033,608.79. Collections on current support tied the highest ever FFY finish.

Child Support Services has restructured the way cases are worked so the most appropriate action can be taken on a case. While state and federal rules remain the same, each case has unique factors that must be considered to provide the best service to the family as a whole.

With fewer staff and the demand for services not decreasing, staff are relying on new tools to aide them in completing the most routine work so that time can be spent on actions that will improve outcomes for the cases.
