Protecting Our Children

The safety and well-being of children is our number one concern

We promptly investigate suspected cases of child abuse, neglect and dependency

At Family & Children Services of Clark County, we make the safety and well-being of children our number one concern. And whenever possible, we strive to keep families together.

When we receive a report of suspected child abuse, neglect or dependency, we promptly begin an investigation and assessment with the child’s parents or guardians to determine if the child is safe and what risk there is of future abuse, neglect or dependency.

If we find no cause for concern, the matter may be closed. However, if the investigation shows that children have been or are at risk of abuse, neglect or dependency, our intervention unit works with the family and other local agencies to obtain needed services to remedy the situation.

In cases where the situation cannot be corrected, a child may need to be removed from the home and alternative arrangements made. For more information, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
