One Stop Receives
2009 Best Practice Award
Rise Above Program brings home the honors

The WorkPlus One-Stop Center and partners Clark State Community College and Jobs and More, received Ohio’s 2009 One-Stop Best Practice Award for the Rise Above program.

Tom Hutter, from the office of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Workforce Development, presented the award at the WorkPlus Board of Directors meeting in November. Rise Above is a soft-skills job readiness program serving both job seekers and employers.

Program outcomes are measured by class completion, job placement and six month job retention. The number of participants has increased over the past year due to the high unemployment rate in Clark County. Laurie Bell, current participant in the Rise Above program says, “Rise Above has given me the opportunity to refresh my soft skills while expanding my job search network.”

For more information about the Rise Above program, please contact the WorkPlus One-Stop Center at (937) 327-1961.
