WorkPlus Regional One-Stop System
Career and Job Fair a Huge Success!
On September 26, 2008, the WorkPlus Regional One-Stop System held their 5th annual job fair at the Champaign County Fairgrounds in observance of Workforce Services Month.
Over 800 job seekers attended the five-county event looking for jobs and inquiring about education and training opportunities!

The event’s success was a collaboration between state and local partner agencies affiliated with the WorkPlus Regional One-Stop System. Other agencies assisting with this effort included, Ohio Department of Development – Region 1 and Region 4, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), AFL-CIO, the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Clark State Community College, Columbus State Community College, Chamber of Commerce of all five counties and the Workforce Development One-Stops of the Department of Job and Family Service agency for Champaign, Clark, Logan, Madison and Union Counties.
Seventy-five employers from various industries, staffing agencies and training institutions were onsite to recruit, interview and hire. Teresa Hoyt, vice president of Human Resources for Security National Bank, was quoted as saying, “The Workplus Regional Job Fair was very well organized and well attended by job seekers. I was very impressed with the job seekers, most presented themselves very well, were dressed appropriately, and provided updated resumes. This was a great opportunity for the community, employers and job seekers! I will definitely attend next year.”
Several job seekers thanked staff members and volunteers for “putting this event together” and another announced they “had a job interview setup with Primerica!” The county one-stops and agency volunteers will meet on October 6th to debrief and begin planning next year’s regional career and job fair.
